Pennington returns to New York

What more could you ask for?  Down to the last game of the season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington heads back to New York for what literally is the AFC East title game against his former team the New York Jets.  Jets opted for the unretired Bret Favre over what many considered a weak armed Pennington during the offseason.  Pennington who had spent his entire career with the Jets found himself playing his 9th season with division rivals Dolphins.  A team that went 1-15 in 2007 but were in the middle of management shake up with new GM Bill Parcels and first year head couch Tony Sparano.
Now the stage is set.  A win would continue two of the best stories this NFL season, that of the Miami Dolphins and Chad Pennington.

  1. It's definitely a storybook ending for the AFC East this year.  The NFL couldn't really draw it up any better.  I definitely think Pennington's having a far superior year than Favre, as evidence in my latest blog: http://www.miamidolphinsnews.com/bonalum/weblog/6012/props-for-penningto Who would you rather have starting this game, Favre or Pennington?

  2.

I would go for Pennington.  Favre needs those flashy receivers not the type of team offense the Fins have.  Pennington manages the game well with all the passes to the runningbacks and tightends as well as giving up some throwing duties while in the Wildcat formation.  Favre is still a gun slinger and risk taker whose style would be counter to what the Fins are now.  But I am a bit bias since I am both a Fins and Bears fan.

  3. I'm definitely a bit biased myself, being a lifelong Miami fan, but regardless I'd prefer Pennington.  Favre is turnover-prone, and him coming in a pick or two each game would kill the Dolphins.  They aren't talented enough yet to overcome those types of things, which is why Pennington is playing near perfect football for the style of offense Dan Henning is trying to run.
