Matt Cassel

22 January 2009

Kerry Collins: Will likely stick around in Tennessee due to Vince Young's suppose instability.

Matt Cassel: Patriots won't let him go considering the seriousness of Tom Brady's knee injury (remember Pep?!)

picks.  The Patriots kept it close for a while, but their 5 turnovers sealed their fate.  Matt Cassel didn’t stand a chance against the Steelers defense once they fell behind.  You just can’t give the ball away that many times to a quality team and expect to win…not in the NFL!

pect for the entire organization because of Spy-gate, especially Bill Belichick.  I have given Matt Cassel a lot of grief, but I also gave him some props and apologized to him in a previous post…maybe you missed that one!  Read this post… Exploding!

And they have come for Matt Cassel

The NFL world is a blaze with talk of Matt Cassel. He has silenced all critics with back to back 400 plus yard games. He has emerged as a leader and has given the Patriots a legitimate chance of making the post season in a year that seemed that all hope was gone.

to begin will have to wait, as Reid has named McNabb the starter for the Turkey Day game!

Matt Cassel threw for over 400 yards yesterday.  Actually, he has thrown for 400+ yards, 2 weeks in a row…a feat that has only been accomplished four other times.  Cassel…I apologize for calling you a professional clipboard holder…sorry!

The Patriots looked like the team of last season with Tom Brady at the helm. Matt Cassel redeemed himself after a bad loss against San Diego throwing for 3 touchdowns against a bad Denver defense. The Broncos had a total of 5 turnovers (2 int, 3 fumbles). You could be playing the Bengals or the Lions and still lose if you turn the ball over 5 times. Randy Moss had 2 touchdown receptions for the Pat squad as they roll over and thrash the Denver Broncos. RB Sammy Morris ran for 138 yards and a score. New England was favored, but not by much. Broncos leave New England now having lost 3 of their last 4 games and have to be scratching their heads as they go back to the drawing board. Patriots win their 5th straight Monday Night game in a 41-7 rout of the Denver Broncos.

er spent the days leading up to Dolphins' Week 3 matchup against New England reportedly saying that Matt Cassel was "no Tom Brady" and guaranteeing the Dolphins' win. Now, two weeks later to the Miami Herald, Porter says he didn't say any of that and that his quotes got construed. What he did say, according to Porter, was that the Fins would "try" to get a win. He did tell the press that he thought the practice of talking up opponents made them sound like "robots," and that he wasn't going to talk like everyone else becuase that's not how people really think.

Sure, they didn’t have Brady’s strength and Matt Cassel had his follies, but the progress Miami showed on the field offensively against a predominately healthy New England secondary shows they may be finally bringing it together and getting on the same page. I’m not gonna lie—it was exciting to watch, in disbelief though I was, but if Miami can keep its composure and focus in Week 5, and play to their ability, we’ll be seeing more of Week 3 excitement all season long. The win against New England doesn't mean anything apart from what they accomplish, or don't, in Week 5 at home against San Diego. Only time will tell if the Fin's Week 3 show was a fluke, or the start of something good in South Florida.
