First Blog, long time fan..

Since this is my first blog on this website, I thought I might share some history, of how and why I am a Dolphins fan.  I was not born a Dolphins fan, some are born into families, where decisions about who there team is and who they will root for has been pre-determined.  Neither of my parents are Dolphins fans.  I have no geographical obligation to the team, I grew up in Central Florida, and could have gone many different directions, Tampa, or who ever was dominant at the time, instead I choose the Dolphins.  It was the 1992 season, and I had already developed a fondness for playing football in the front yard, that fondness was soon going to cross over to watching the game on TV.  As fate would have it, the Sunday I decided to give watching football a try, the Miami Dolphins were hosting the Indianapolis Colts.  I knew little about strategy, the rules, or even the names of the game, but it did not take long to figure out that No.13 for the Dolphins could sure throw the ball.  I watch Dan Marino keep the Dolphins in the game, with the Dolphins trailing 24-20 late in the fourth quarter, Marino drove the Dolphins inside the Colts five yard line, then threw an interception that sealed the Colts 31-20 win over the Dolphins.  Even in defeat, I knew right away I had found my team.  I got on-board right away and watched with pride as Miami won the AFC East and defeated San Diego 31-0 in the second round of the playoffs, only to have my heart broken in the AFC Championship by the Bills.  Little did I know in week 8 of the 1992 season, it would all go down hill from there.  In terms of my time as a Dolphins fan, 1992 was the pinnacle of their success, last AFC East title, last trip to the AFC Championship.  Since then, I have been there through it all, watching Marino deliver another fourth quarter comeback, Marino breaking all of the major passing records, to the Jacksonville Jaguars handing the Dolphins the worst playoff loss in NFL history, 62-7.  Even in the midst of a six year hiatus from the playoffs, including a 1-15 record last year, I have never regretted my choice.  For our parents, the Miami Dolphins are Superman, Iron Man, the 1972 season, two championships in three years.  But for us the Dolphins are very much human, they have had great moments, but have have proven they are not invincible, and perfect, similar to us who do not live in the comic book world.  I was once told, the greatest opportunity for a real fan to show their pride was not after a win, that was easy, it was after a loss, if that logic holds true, then I can say that I am a true fan.
